Wilson H. Barnard, 83, of
Parma, died at 2:10 p.m.
Tuesday, December 5,
1995, in the ICU Ward of the VA Hospital in Boise, ID, of
complications from surgery and ill health.
Funeral and Rosary services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, December 9, 1995, at the Parma Catholic Church. The
service and Rosary will be officiated by Rev. Father J. T.
McGoldrick, retired. Burial will follow at the Roswell
Cemetery, Roswell,
Idaho, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell.
Wilson was born November 30, 1912 in Cheyenne,
Oklahoma, to Henry and
Florence Stevensen Barnard, the eldest of five children.
Wilson was educated in Arizona and Oklahoma, graduating from
Kellyville High School in Kellyville,
Oklahoma. He attended
college at Central State Teachers College in Edmond, Oklahoma,
for two years. He married Mary Jane Hansbro in 1936 in
Oklahoma. From this marriage Wilson was blessed with two
children, James H.E. and Anna L. They were divorced in 1951.
Wilson grew up as a farmer in his younger days, then went
to the oil fields during the Depression. He took time out for
two years of service in the Navy during WWII, then returned to
the oil fields in California. Wilson left the oil fields in
1955 to go into the retail carpet and furniture business,
working both for himself and others along the way.
In 1957 Wilson married Shari Doan. Again he was blessed
with two children, Denis W. and George W. They were divorced
in 1981. In 1967, this family moved to Idaho and in February
of 1970 they moved to the farm Southwest of Parma, where with
a few exceptions, he lived until his hospitalization in
November of 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
two sisters and one son.
He is survived by a son, James of Muskogee, Oklahoma; a
daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Mark Kelley with children
LeAnn and Vivian of Boise, Idaho; a son and daughter-in-law,
Denis and Donna Barnard and children RuAnn, Erin, Sharna and
Deidre of Parma, Idaho; a grandson, Larry Barnard and family
of Paris Island, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Linda Weit
and family of Ft. Meyers Beach, Florida. The latter two
families include four great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr.
Robert Vestal and the other doctors, nurses and personnel of
the Boise VA for their gracious service extended to Wilson in
the last six years and to the family in the final ten days of
his life.
The family requests that any monetary donations be made
to the George Barnard Memorial Scholarship c/o First Security
Bank, Parma, Idaho. |
