William Bowen, M.D.

     Dr. William F. Bowen, 81, of Nampa, died Monday, September 19, 1994, at a Nampa care center.  Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 23, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa, with the Rev. Father Alfred Puccinelli, S.M., as the celebrant.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Nampa.
     Dr. Bowen was born March 7, 1913, at Livingston, Mont., a son of William C. and Annie Bowen, and moved with his family to Nampa in 1918.  He attended schools here, graduating from Nampa High School in 1931.  He then attended the College of Idaho in Caldwell for two years.  He was graduated from the Pre-Med Program at the University of Idaho where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.  He then attended medical school at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., graduating in 1942.  He served his internship at St. Vincent's and Providence Hospitals in Portland, Ore.  He received a fellowship in surgery to Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, La., and completed his surgical residency at Cook County and Presbyterian Hospitals in Chicago, Ill., where he was admitted to the American Board of Surgeons.  He practiced medicine at Fort Bragg, Calif., Pendleton, Ore., and Albany, Ore.
     He retired in 1983 and spent his time in Albany and in Nampa.
     He is survived by one brother, John T. Bowen of Nampa; two sisters, Genevieve Harbert of Walla Walla, Wash., and Anna Marie Bowen of San Francisco, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a daughter.
