Services for Pearl D. Brown, 86, of Melba, who died
Wednesday, Nov. 26, at a Nampa care center, will be conducted
at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Melba Ward Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Norman Alder will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Melba Cemetery. Services and burial
are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Mrs. Brown was born Feb. 9, 1900, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah,
where she was reared and educated. In 1917 she moved with her
family to Melba, where the family homesteaded. She worked as
a clerk in Melba until she was married.
She married Alexander “Sandy” Brown Dec. 21, 1919, at
Boise, and their marriage was solemnized in the Manti, Utah,
LDS Temple in June 1920. Following their marriage they lived
in Mt. Pleasant for a short while. They also lived in other
states before moving to Melba in 1932, where they farmed. In
1985 they moved to Nampa.
She was an active member of the Melba Ward LDS Church,
where she served as a visiting teacher for 37 years, served as
relief society president, was a counselor in the primary
department and served as a teacher in several departments of
the church. Her hobbies were quilting and crocheting.
She is survived by three sons, Mervin R. Brown of Sandy,
Utah, and Wayne A. and Jay Dean Brown, both of Melba; four
daughters, Thelma Hill of Moyie Springs, Beth Vrooman of
Albany, Ore., Lois A. Brown of Salt Lake City, Utah, and
Sandra Kike of Orem, Utah; a sister, Cleo Little of camas,
Wash.; 36 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March, 19,
1985; three children, Eldon H. Brown and twins Donald and
Dorothy Brown; two brothers and a sister.
