The body of Melrose Youmans, 61, was found early today by a
neighbor, H. Hedges, at his home on the island about three
miles west of Parma.
Hedges, who had not seen Youmans
since last Monday, went to investigate. He found the man
dead.
Sheriff Harold Meyer, who was called
on the case, said that Youmans had apparently died of a heart
attack Monday night. He was found in bed. Tuesday’s
mail was still in the mail box. The body was in bad condition
Meyer said, the chickens had been without water and the horses
had been without food for at least four days.
Hedges lives approximately a quarter
of a mile away.
The deceased is survived by Rosa
Bottenheimer, a nephew who works in Long Valley, and by a
sister living in Canada.
No funeral arrangements have been
made. H. G. Peckham, who is in charge of the body, said. |
