Graveside services for Minta Belcher Corder, 90, of Crouch,
formerly of Wilder, who died Saturday, July 5, at home of
natural causes, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Wilder
Cemetery. Pastor Donald Moore of the Hillview Church of
the Nazarene, Boise, will officiate, under direction of the
Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Corder, a homemaker, was born March 27, 1896, near
Greenwood, Mo., to Jehile and Nellie Nikirk Belcher. She
lived in Missouri where she lived in Warsaw, then in West
Line. In 1914 she moved back to Greenwood.
She married Clarence L. Corder on on Jan. 11, 1916, at
Harrisonville, Mo. They moved to New Lancaster, Kan.,
living there and around LaCygne, Kan., and at Drexel, Mo.,
until 1944.
They settled in the Arena Valley area near Wilder where
they farmed. She was active in the Arena Valley Circle,
and also helped with 4-H work. She joined the Sterry
Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roswell, in 1946, and had taught
a Sunday school class there for several years. She lost
her sight in 1956, but continued all activities possible.
Her husband died in January of 1971.
She then sold the farm and moved to Homedale to be near
a daughter. In 1976 she moved to Garden Valley to be
near her son and daughters. In 1983 she became unable to
care for herself, and moved to Crouch to live with her
daughters.
She was always willing to help her neighbors and
friends.
She is survived by a son, Estel "Bud" Corder of Boise;
a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Alice Corder of Garden
Valley; two daughters, Mary Conn and Ellen Rose, both of
Crouch; three sisters, Mrs. Vyna Kennedy of Chilhowee, Mo.,
Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan of Richmond, Kan., and Mrs. Martha
Gillogly of West Drexel, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 23
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar,
George, Luke and Frank, and a grandson, Billy Ray Conn.
Friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Dakan
Chapel in Caldwell. |
