Jay Clabo

     Mervin Jay Clabo, 67, of Caldwell and formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away Friday, July 2, 1993, at the Middleton Cemetery.  Pastor Chip Miller of the Evangel Family Worship Center, Caldwell, will officiate under direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
     Jay was born Feb. 24, 1926, at Nampa, a son of John and Jane Reagan Clabo.  He attended Middle schools and entered the U.S. Navy in 1943, serving three years in World War II on the USS Chiwawa as a fire control technician second class.  In 1949 he was recalled and served in the Korean Confilict on the USS Marshall and USS Laertes receiving several medals.  In 1953, Jay was honorably discharged.  He married Dorothy Cain in 1955 in Weiser and the couple lived in Boise, Utah and Las Vegas where he worked for the Nevada test site for 20 years.
     Jay and Dorothy just recently retired in 1991 to their home in Caldwell where Jay especially enjoyed working in his yard and garden and visiting friends and relatives.
     He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
     Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Dorothy, are a son, Michael Charles and a daughter, Brenda Renee, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Orville and his wife, Ida Clabo of Roseburg, Ore., and Stanley E. "Short" Clabo of Royal City, WA.; two sisters, Wanda N. and her husband Marvin Tyler of Middleton and Velma "Sib" and her husband Harv Metzker of Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
     Friends may call today from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
