Laura Douthit

    Rosary for Laura Emily Douthit, 69, of Nampa, who died Monday, May 26, at a Boise hospital, will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
    Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church by the Rev. Merle J. Fisher, S.M.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
    Mrs. Douthit was born May 26, 1917, at Palmer, Neb., to William Henry and Marcia Mae Cook Schroeder.  She was reared and attended schools in Nebraska.
    She married James F. Douthit Feb. 23, 1936, at Taylor, Neb.  They made their home in Nebraska and she taught school for several years.  They moved to Nampa in 1941.
    The Douthits celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February.
    She was office supervisor for the Idaho State School Lunch Program for about 15 years and was past state treasurer of the American School Food Association.  In recent years, she had lost her sight and had attended the State Commission for the Blind in Boise for six months.
    She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and of the Catholic Daughters of America and was past State Vice-Grand Regeant of the C.D.A. and past president of the Western Deanery of Catholic Women.  She was a volunteer in the RSVP program and was currently president of the treasure Valley Association for the Blind and was serving on the Caldwell Mayor's Committee for the Handicapped.  She was also a member of the Women's Century Club and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
    She is survived by her husband of Nampa; two sons, Leonard Douthit of Elmira, Ore., and Maurice Douthit of Pollock, Idaho; two daughters, Rosalie Bruck of Elmira, Ore., and Deanna Hawkins of Nampa; a sister, Edna Bolton of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by a brother.
    Memorials may be made to the Treasure Valley Association for the Blind, 1303 3rd. St. S., Nampa; or flowers may be sent.
    Friends may call today until 9 p.m.; from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and until 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Flahiff chapel in Nampa.
