Rosary for John H,
Dieffenbach, 64, of 515 18th Ave. So., Nampa, who died Monday
at a Nampa hospital, will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at
Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa, Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic
Church by the Rev. James L. Pratt, S.M. Interment will be at
Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
He was born April 13, 1918, at Pulaski, Iowa, a son of
Henry and Nora Hartzler Dieffenbach. He moved with his parents
to Nampa in 1924 where he attended schools. He attended the
College of Idaho for one year and then attended Nampa Business
College. He married Emily Hess, 0ct, 7, 1950, in Nampa where
they have since made their home. He served with the 25th Army
Band during the Korean conflict. Following special schooling
at the University of California, Santa Cruz, he became a
certified city clerk and served as city clerk in Nampa for
twelve years following which he was city clerk of Boise for
five years. He was the author of "Boise Municipal Accounting"
and co-author of "Records Management for City Clerks."
He was presented an award for outstanding service to the
state of Idaho by Gov. John Evans and was also given a
certificate of honorary membership in the Idaho City Clerks
and Fiannce Officers Association and was the first recipient
of the Marvin Kimberling award in 1978, He was past .president
of the Nampa Exchange Club, a past member of Nampa Lodge No.
1389, 8.P.0.E., a member of the Musicians' Union Local No.
423, and had been a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of St.
Paul's Catholic Church and had played with the Majors and
Minors musical group until 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Nampa; one son, David,
Meridian; two daughters, JoAnn Morris and Vicki Flume, both of
Boise; two sisters, Leona Rosenbaum and Florence Hermann, both
of Nampa; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 700
Robbins Road, Boise, or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa until
9 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and until
l0:30 a.m. on Thursday. |
