Jesse Bryant

     Jesse H. Bryant, 72, of Nampa, died Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at home.  Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  The Rev. Fr. Alfred Puccinelli, S.M. of St. Paul’s Catholic Church will officiate.  Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
     Jesse was born June 25, 1924, at Golden, Missouri, a son of Harvey and Corabell Edmondson Bryant.  He was raised and educated at golden until he was 12 years old at which time the family moved to the Boise
Valley.  In 1942 Jesse joined the U.S. Marines and served during World War II.  He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Nampa.  Jesse and Ruth Wakefield were married on Dec. 31, 1946, at Winnemucca, NV.  They made their home in Nampa where Jesse began working for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1947.  In 1960 they purchased the Hanson Memorial Monument Co. which they operated until 1980.  Jesse retired from the Railroad after 39 years, in 1986.  While they were raising their family they spent many weekends camping and fishing.  Jesse took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren, they were an important part of his life.  After retirement they became Snow Birds in the winter and spent their summers in McCall at the Lakeview Village Trailer Court where Jesse enjoyed playing golf.  He played in the McCall Amateur golf Tournament for many years.  He also enjoyed pitching Horse Shoes at the Elks picnics with his buddies.
     Jesse was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, a life member of Nampa Elks Lodge, No. 1389, B.P.O.E. the Broadmore Country Club and the Gem Sprouts, Good Sam Club.
     Survivors include his wife Ruth of Nampa; three sons and their wives, Patrick and Mary Bryant, John and Robin Bryant and Christopher and Michell Bryant all of Nampa; three daughters and their husbands, Ann and rod Skyles of Meridian; Coralee Bryant and John Pinkard of Nampa; and Janice and Phil McNabb of Boise; a brother Donald Bryant and his wife Bonnie of Nampa; two sisters and their husband, Montella and Jack Lopp of Caldwell; and Juanita and Wally Walderon of Salinas, CA.; fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by four sons, two daughters, two brothers and one sister.
     Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice, Mercy Medical Center or flowers may be sent.
