Services are pending
at Peckham-Dakan-Davis Chapel for James C. Krn, 67, a
prominent Wilder farmer who died Tuesday following a heart
attack at the Caldwell golf course.
Mr. Karn was born May 24, 1891, at Winona, Minn.
He spent much of his earlier life in Briton, S.D., then moved
to Salem Ore., where he married Francis Gleeson on Oct. 25,
1916. They moved to Wilder in 1913 where he cleared the
sagebrush from the land on which his present home now stands.
He served as foreman for the rip-rapping of the face of the
Lake Lowell dam for the CCC. From 1946 to 1948 he worked
for the Morrison-Knudson company in Wyoming. Since that
time he had farmed in the Wilder area.
Mr. Karn was a director of the Beet Growers
Association; charter member of the Wilder Labor Organization;
former director of the Wilder Cemetery district; former
director of the FHA; member of the board of the ASC, and
served as chairman for two years; former director of the
Wilder Irrigation board; member of the Idaho IOOF Lodge 137,
at Wilder; past master of AF&AM Lodge 83; a member of the
Boise Scottish Rife Masons; a member of the El Korah Shrine at
Boise, and the Caldwell Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife at the home; one son, Glen
Karn of Nampa; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Howell of Wilder; two
brothers, Charles Karn, Wilder, and Edwin Karn of Boise; four
sisters, Mrs. John Batt, Mrs. Ervin Hetrick, Mrs. Willard
Mills, and Mrs. Haftle Vance, all of Wilder, and nine
grandchildren. |
