Funeral services for Joseph Allen Cisney, 90, Middleton, who
died Thursday at a Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at
2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, by
the Rev. Charles W. Chase, of the Middleton First United
Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Middleton
Cemetery with graveside rites by the Oddfellows Lodge.
He was born Sept. 9, 1892 at Coleridge, Neb., to
Stephen S. and Marjorie J. Stephens Cisney. As a young
man, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad at Omaha Neb.
He married Ruby May Hanham on Feb. 25, 1915 at Coleridge, Neb.
They farmed at Coleridge and Newawka, Neb. and worked
for a bridge crew in Cedar County, Nebraska. In 1937,
they moved to Mesa, Idah., where he worked at the Mesa
Orchards. He then worked as a foreman at the New
Plymouth dehydrator until it was destroyed by a fire. he
later worked at the Larrabee Orchard in Oroville, Wash., until
retiring to an acreage on Hartley Gulch road near Middleton.
He wife preceded him in death in April of 1976.
For the past five years, he had resided at the
Oddfellow's Home at Coldwell. He was a member of the
Middleton First United Methodist Church and the Oddfellows
Lidge No. 52, Middleton.
He is survived by three sons, Merle E. Cisney, Camas,
Wash.; Clair E. Cisney, Vancouver, Wash.; and Kenneth E.
Cisney, Boise; two daughters, Thelma Wallace, Middleton; and
Blanche Higgins, Madras, Ore.; a brother, Kinley J. Cisney,
Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Odessa Roberts, Sioux City, Iowa; 21
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Doyle E. Cisney, who
was killed in an airplane crash on Adak Island, Alaska in
1961; four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell, Monday from 1 until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m.
until 2 p.m.
