John Caler

      Graveside services for John A. Caler, 88, of Homedale, who died Friday, March 20, at a Boise nursing home, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilder Cemetery.
      Pastor Michael Baugher of the Homedale Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
      Mr. Caler was born Oct.26, 1898, at Mapleton, Kan., to Benjamin F. and Amanda Shippey Caler.  He was raised in Kansas and moved to Washington state, where he worked in the shipyards during World War I.  He homesteaded in the Marsing-Homedale area in 1937.  In 1945 he moved to Colorado, where he worked in the gold and silver mines.  He returned to Homedale in 1947, where he had since resided.

      He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Clason of The Dalles, Ore., and Donna Geissler of Quito, Ecuador; two sons, Ben Caler Sr. of Homedale and Donald D. Caler of Boise; a sister, Marie Bishop of Yates Center, Kan.; numerous grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
            He was preceded in death by six brothers, five sisters, two daughters, a son and a grandson. 
            Friends may call at the Dakan chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
