Irwin W. Drake

    CALDWELL - Graveside services for Irwin W. Drake, 94, Caldwell, who died Monday in a Caldwell nursing home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Middleton Cemetery, Middleton, by the Rev. Dale Vandergrift, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
    He was born Oct. 5, 1886, in Fort Snellings, Minn.  At the age of 4, he moved with his family to Boston, where he was reared and educated.  He attended the University of Michigan.  In 1906, he moved to Mountain Home, where he drove a stage from Mountain Home to Boise for 14 months.  He was a cattle buyer for Clayton and Sons, Omaha, Neb., from 1908 to 1916.  He owned and operated a ranch near Fort Collins, Colo., from 1916-1930, when he went to work for the Internal Revenue Service on the Mexican border.  In 1932, he moved to Bonneville County, where he worked as a probation officer and later as a Bonneville County deputy sheriff.  He worked as a ranch hand for M.E. Toliver in Conant Valley from 1949 to 1957, and for David Miller in Murphy and Middleton from 1957 to 1974, when he retired.
    Memorials may be made to the Elks Rehabilitation Center.
    Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel today from 4 to 9 p.m.
