Services will be
held Tuesday at l0:30 a.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, for Irene
Batt, 93, who died in Caldwell Saturday, Nov. 27, of natural
causes.
She was born July 13, 1889, in Chico, Calif. She was the
daughter of J.J. McDonald of Iowa and Electa Ellen Whiteside
of California. Her childhood was spent in California until she
moved to Salem, Ore., in 1904, and then to Port Angeles, Wash.
She played on the girls' basketball team and graduated from
Port Angeles High School in 1907. She married Roger W. Batt,
Sept. 11, 1912, in Salem. They moved to Idaho in 1915 to
homestead on the Wilder bench.
Roger and Irene celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary
in 1962. He died in 1967, and a son, Wendell, died in 1977.
She is survived by her brother, W.A, McDonald, Woodburn,
Ore.; two sons, Donald R. Batt, Wilder, and Harold J. Batt,
Caldwell; two daughters, Mrs. Macey (Margaret) Hyde, Portland,
and Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Andres, Wilder; 15 grandchildren, and
l8 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Boone Memorial Presbyterian
