Captain Hugh J.
McLaughlin, Caldwell doctor, passed away Sunday while en route
to Camp Adair. He was born Sept. 27, 1899, in Omaha,
Neb., coming to Idaho at the age of seven months. He
made his home here, attending the Caldwell grade school and
high school
In 1924 he was graduated from the Creighton Medical
school and the next five years he spent in the United States
public health service. After practicing medicine in
Boston until 1937, he returned to Idaho where he practiced
until Sept. 23, 1942. He was at this time given a
commission as captain in the U. S. Army and stationed at Fort
Lewis. On December 27, 1942, he was transferred to Camp
Adair.
He was a member of the Eagles lodge and the Rotary club
of Caldwell and a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean McLaughlin, and
eight children; Hugh, Jr., June, John, Grace, Kenneth, Mary,
Regina, and Anthony; mother, Mrs. J. H. McLaughlin; two
brothers, James A. of Los Angeles and Victor of Hunt, Idaho;
two sisters, Margaret Maser, Caldwell, and Mary Janulaw of Los
Angeles. His father preceded him in death in February,
1942.
The funeral arrangements have not been announced.
