Francis Lee Johnson,
90, of Parma, former commissioner of Agriculture for Idaho,
died at his home Wednesday evening following an extended
illness.
Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 11, 1869, in New Hope, Va.,
and moved to Missouri as a small boy, later moving to Iowa.
In 1881 he moved to Colorado with his parents, and married
Bertha Goss, on Nov. 24, 1898, at Hygiene, Colo.
In 1905 they moved to Murtaugh, Idaho, where he
homesteaded until 1913 when they moved to Twin Falls.
They moved to the Parma area in 1918 where he farmed and
during the term of C. Ben Ross as governor, Mr. Johnson served
as commissioner of agriculture for six years.
Ten years ago they retired from farming and moved into
Parma where they had since resided.
The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary
last November.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Kirkpatrick Memorial
Presbyterian church of Parma.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha Johnson, Parma;
a daughter, Miss Gertrude Johnson of Parma; s siter,
Mrs. James Boyd of Longmont, Colo.; a nephew, Julian R.
Johnson of Twin Falls and a niece, Miss Maxine Johnson of
Parma.
Arrangements are pending at the Peckham-Dakan-Davis
Chapel of Parma. |
