ton Succumbs Monday
Morning as Result of Injuries
from Automobile Crash

As a result of head injuries
received Saturday afternoon in an automobile accident, Frank C.
Manning of near Middleton passed away Monday morning at 10 o'clock
at the Caldwell sanitarium. His daughter, Mrs. E. Mower, who
was injured in the same accident, was reported to be getting along
nicely Monday morning.
The accident occurred Saturday afternoon about 4
o'clock as Mr. Manning and his daughter were returning to Middleton
with Mr. and Mrs. George Swartz. Mr. Swartz was driving with
Mrs. Swartz riding in front and Mr. Manning and Mrs. Mower
occupying the rear seat of the automobile.
Automobile Skids
An icy place in the road was encountered just as
the car was rounding the curve on the Caldwell side of the Canyon
hill bridge, and the automobile skidded over the grade and hit a
telephone pole. The driver escaped without injury and Mrs.
Swartz received several bruises. Mrs. Mower received head
bruises and her tongue was almost completely severed. Mr.
Manning received a fractured skull and a severe shock, which
resulted in his death.
Both Mr. Manning and Mrs. Mower were taken to the
Caldwell sanitarium.
Mrs. Manning, who was visiting her sons in California
at the time of the time of the accident is enroute to her home.
No funeral arrangements will be made until she arrives. The
body is at the Peckham funeral chapel.
Besides his widow, the deceased is survived by three
sons, Everett and Seth Manning of Oakland, Cal., and Clarence of
Whittier, Cal., and the daughter, Mrs. Mower.

Funeral services for Frank
Manning were held Thursday afternoon at the Peckham funeral chapel
with the Rev. A. B. Parrett officiating. Interment was in the
Canyon Hill cemetery.
Mr. Manning passed away Monday morning at a local
hospital hospital following injuries received in an automobile
accident Saturday afternoon.
