Eldon H. Brown

     NAMPA – Funeral services for Elden H. Brown, 52, of 04 15^th Ave. N., who died at a Boise hospital Tuesday following an extended illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
     Bishop Hugh Swim of the Melba Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Melba Cemetery with graveside rites by the American Legion Post No. 126 of Melba.
     Mr. Brown was born June 5, 1923 at Melba, where he was reared and attended schools.  He graduated from Melba High School in 1941 as the salutatorian of his class and was awarded the first Union Pacific Scholarship to be awarded at melba High School.  He later attended the University of Idaho in Moscow until 1943 when he joined the United States Navy.  He served in World War 11 and was discharged in March of 1946.  The following year he moved to California and lived there during the early fifties
     Around 1956 he returned to Southern Idaho where he has since resided.  After returning to Idaho he farmed in the Melba area for a few years and later owned his own refrigeration business in Nampa.  He later became production foreman for Hehr International where he worked for a number of years.  In about 1970 he went to work for Ideal of Idaho in Caldwell where he was a supervisor until ill health forced him to retire.  He was married to Martha Carrell on April 14, 1973.
     He was a member of the Third Ward, L.D.S. Church of Nampa, and a former member of American Legion Post No. 126 of Melba.
     Mr. Brown, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Brown, Nampa; one son, Harold Brown, Caldwell; four daughters, Mrs. Delores Hayden, Jerome, Miss Carol Tarp and Miss Sheila Tarp, both of Boise, and mrs. Elda Brown, Nampa; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Alexander Brown, Melba; three brothers, Wayne Brown and Jay Brown, both of Melba, and Mervin Brown ,Sandy, Utah; four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Hill, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Beth Vrooman, Sitka, Alaska, Miss Lois Brown, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mrs. Sandra Dike, Boise; and numerous nieces and nephews; one granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Brown, Caldwell; two stepsons, Randy Carrell, Nampa and Dennis Carrell, Grangeville; two step-grandchildren, Randy Carrell, Jr. and Lenny Carrell.  He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
