Edith Cook

      Edith I Cook, 90, of Wilder, died Friday, March 9, 1990, at a Nampa hospital.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, March 12, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.  The Rev. Ray Thompson of the United Methodist Church, Caldwell, will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Wilder Cemetery.
      Mrs. Cook was born July 24, 1899, in a sod house at Chambers,
Neb., a daughter of John W. and Clara Belle Dorothy Wintermote.  She completed the 9th Grade at Chambers and then attended Fremont Normal School.  She taught school in Eagle, Neb., for two years.
      She married Herman Cook on Feb. 16, 1921, at Chambers, Neb., and the couple farmed at Erickson, Loretto and
Bartlett, Neb.  Later they returned to Chambers where they continued to farm.
      In 1959, they moved to Meridian.  She worked at St. Luke’s, the Boise Children’s Home and West Junior High in Boise before going to work at Pat’s Café in
Meridian, where she cooked for 10 years.
      Mr. Cook died in 1965.  She moved to the Wilder area in 1971.  She cooked at the bowling alley in Homedale for seven years and retired in 1981.  She had also worked at the Homedale Senior Citizens as a cook.
      Edith enjoyed making all types of crafts, sewing, quilting, fishing and gardening.
      She was a member of the Methodist Church, Meridian Grange and Stateline Grange.  She was a 4-H leader in Chambers and
Erickson, Neb.
      Surviving are two daughters, Ramona Feam of Wilder and Zetha Drew of Rapid City, S.D.; a brother, Gaius Wintermote of Chambers, Neb,; a sister, Dorothy Wintermote of Lincoln, Neb.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband and a son in 1972.
      Friends may call today from 3 p.m. until
8 p.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
 
     Memorials may be given to the Homedale Senior Citizens Center.
