Elaine Bartlett

   Elaine Bates Bartlett, 73, of Caldwell, was resurrected to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday, April 3, 1994, at home, following a valiant battle with cancer.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 1994, at Deer Flat Free Methodist church, 17703 Beet Road, Caldwell, with Rev. K.D. Cole officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery, Greenleaf, Idaho.  Services are under the direction of Dakan funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
     Elaine was born November 10, 1920, at Melba, Idaho, to William R. and Audney Nelson Bates.  She attended school at wilder and Greenleaf, graduating from Greenleaf Friends Academy in 1938.  On March 23, 1940, she married Bruce C. Bartlett, her high school sweetheart whom she met in the fifth grade.  Their first home was in Boise.  Then following two years in
California where Bruce was stationed in the U.S. Air Force, they settled in the Deer Flat Community.  She was a homemaker, loving her family and grandchildren above all else.
     She enjoyed cooking, entertaining many in her home, her flowers and lawn, and was an accomplished artist.  She and Bruce enjoyed many outdoor activities together, including viewing wildlife at their cabin on Lake
Cascade.  Elaine enjoyed boating, waterskiing, white-water rafting and hunting, shooting 3 bull elk herself.  On their many travels through all 50 states and at home she was always interested in watching birds.  She was very active in her local church, being a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years, a director for Free Methodist Youth for many yeas, serving on the board of directors, decor and missions committees.
     She is survived by her husband, Bruce of Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert C. Brown of Caldwell; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas M. and Denise Bartlett of Caldwell, and Stephen W. and Ruth Bartlett of Meridian, ID; she is also survived by eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, 16 brothers and sisters, Louise Scott of Chewalah, WA., Aloah Williams of Newberg, OR., June Cottier of Caldwell, ID., Wendell Bates of McCall, ID., Sue Harmon of Meridian, ID., Shirley Sams of Greenleaf, ID., Robert N. Bates of Caldwell, ID., Vivian Gordon of Redding, CA., Wilma Raymond of Enterprise, OR., Roger Bates of Seattle, WA., Edward Bates of Caldwell, ID., Virgil Bates of Caldwell, ID., Raymond Bates of Pendleton, OR., Frank Bates of Caldwell, ID., Gail Wood of Caldwell, ID., and Jerry Bates of Caldwell, ID.
