Denzil Davis, 92, of Nampa, died Wednesday, Jan. 19,
1994, at his home, the Sunnyridge Retirement Center. Funeral
services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22,
1994, at the Nampa Friends Church, 723 13th Ave.
S. Pastors Walter Lee and Mark Roberts of the Nampa Friends
Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Greenleaf
Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alsip Funeral
Chapel, Nampa.
Denzil Davis was born Sept. 10, 1901, at Truro, Iowa, to
Theodore and Millie Davis. In 1906 the family moved to
Almena, Kansas, and in 1912 they moved to North Branch,
Kansas. Denzil attended public schools and graduated from
North Branch Academy in 1922.
Following high school school Denzil secured a normal
training teachers certificate and taught school for six
years. He married Ruth Roberson on June 15, 1927, in Burr
Oak, Kan.
Following their marriage, he farmed and taught school
until moving to Greenleaf, Idaho, in 1937. After moving to
Idaho he operated a dairy, farmed and taught school. Denzil
was very involved in the American Sunday School Union for a
number of years. He taught school for 23 years, 12 of those
were at the Boulevard Christian School. Denzil and Ruth moved
to Sunnyridge Retirement Center in 1980. Before moving to
Nampa, Denzil and Ruth were members of the Greenleaf Friends
Church where he served as church treasurer for several years.
He was a member of the Nampa Friends Church.
Denzil is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Davis, Nampa;
a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Randall Emry, Talent, OR;
4 grandchildren, Daniel Emry, Central Valley, CA, Roger Emry,
Grants Pass, OR, Linda Emry and Teresa Marsing, both of
Medford, OR; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on
Friday from 9 a.m. To 9 p.m.
