Donald R. Batt, 78, well known farmer, of Wilder, died
Thursday, March 19, 1992 at a Boise hospital. Funeral
services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 23,
1992, at the United
Methodist Church,
Caldwell.
Reverend Bret Schroeder of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church
Homedale and Pastor Victor Schulze of Marsing will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Wilder
Cemetery, Wilder,
Idaho, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell.
Mr. Batt was born June 21, 1913, the eldest son of Roger
W. and Irene McDonald Batt, at Salem, Ore. He moved to Wilder
with his parents in 1915 where he has since resided. He
graduated from Wilder
High School in 1931 and
from the University of
Washington with a
degree in business administration in 1937. He was a member of
Lambda Chi Alpha.
Donald married Dorothy Boehner of Wilder on December 17,
1938 in Caldwell. They celebrated their 53rd wedding
anniversary in 1991.
Don has been an active member in many community
activities over the years. He served on the Caldwell Memorial
Hospital Board for bout 15 years and the Farm Labor Sponsoring
Board as well as the Idaho State Hospital Commission and Hop
Growers of America. Don was also a chairman of the Wilder
Community Auction for charity and served in various offices in
the Wilder Rod & Gun Club and was a Life Member of the BPOE
#1448 in Caldwell.
All his life he was an avid sportsman. He played
baseball with the town team for several years and enjoyed
golfing, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; three sons and
daughters-in-law Stephen and Donna of Payette, Stuart and
Anita of Ontario and Reed and Merlinn of Homedale; a brother
and sister-in-law Harold and Janice of Caldwell; two sisters
and brothers-in-law Margaret and Macey Hyde of Portland and
Gladys and Frank Andres of Caldwell; a sister-in-law Mira Batt
of Caldwell; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He
was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wendell.
Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 until 5:00 PM at the
Flahiff Funeral Chapel.
The family suggests that memorials be given to the Wilder
