Services for Dean C. Coombs, 59, of Caldwell, Route 7, who
died Sunday, Feb. 9, at home of natural causes, will be held
at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the North Caldwell LDS Stake Center on
Highway 30. Bishop Ron Short of the Middleton First Ward
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate,
under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Caldwell.
Burial will follow in the Middleton Cemetery.
Mr. Coombs, a farmer, was born Nov. 6, 1926, at
Preston, to Cecil and Gladys Hodges Coombs. He was
reared and educated in Thatcher, Idaho, and served with the
U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Shirley Mae
Lechtenberg on June 4, 1947, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
The couple resided in central Idaho until 1950 when
they moved to a homestead north of Caldwell where they had
since resided.
He was a member of the Middleton Fist Ward LDS Church
where he held various stake and ward positions. He was
serving as a second counselor at the Middleton First Ward at
the time of his death. He helped to organize the Black
Canyon Grazing Association in 1967.
He is survived by his wife of Caldwell; four sons,
Brent, Bruce and Mark, all of Caldwell, and Dwight of Boise; a
daughter, Uarda Coombs of Nampa; his mother, Mrs. Gladys
Coombs of Caldwell; two brothers, Cecil of Clarkston, Wash.,
and Lee of Nampa; 18 grandchildren; and eight nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, an infant
daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to the missionary fund of the
Middleton First Ward, or flowers may be sent.
The family will greet friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at
the Flahiff Chapel in Caldwell. |
