Dale A. Winslow

Obituaries- Funeral services for Dale A. Winslow, who passed away Friday, May 21, 2004 at a Caldwell hospital of natural causes, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell with Pastor Cleve Clucas of the Notus First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery.
Dale A. Winslow, 78, was born to Tedford H. and Ula E. (Tucker) Winslow at Caldwell on Nov. 28, 1925. He grew up on the family farm south of Greenleaf. He attended Greenleaf Grade School and graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy in 1944. After attending the University of Idaho, he returned home to farm with his father.
Dale married Martha Louise Hunter Nov. 21, 1948, at Caldwell First Baptist Church. Dale and Louise made their first home on the Tucker home place on Highway 19 and Tucker Road. They moved to the Winslow farm on Friends Road in July 1953, where he lived until his death.
He saw many changes to farming and the Greenleaf community during his life. As a young man he put up hay using horses and a derrick and was a member of threshing crews that shared labor to harvest many acres of wheat and corn in the Greenleaf community. In later years he used tractors and trucks and diversified the crops he raised to include potatoes, sugar beets, silage corn, lettuce, peas, beans, corn and other seed crops. He raised registered Angus and later Brahma-Angus cross beef cattle and Holstein dairy cattle as well as row crops until his retirement in 1987. After retirement, he enjoyed making model farm wagons, stagecoaches, covered wagons and buggies for competition in local county fairs and as gifts to friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; a step-brother, Donald Fodge; two sons, Claren (Teresa) Winslow and Kelly Winslow, both of Caldwell; three daughters, Ruth Winslow of Boise, Ula (Ross) Chadd and Loma (Jim) Bittick, both of Caldwell; six grandchildren, Kerri Chadd of Boise, Justin Bittick, Stacey Bittick, and John Bittick of Caldwell, Sarah Winslow and Tedford Winslow of Caldwell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Cathryn J. Bell and Margaret A. Brown; a son, John Tedford Winslow; a daughter, Helen Irene Winslow; and step-mothers, Ida Fodge Winslow and Dilla Tucker Winslow
