Mrs. C. E. Garrity

     NAMPA - Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Ryan Garrity, 88, of the Colonial Apts., Nampa, died Sunday at a Nampa hospital following an extended illness.
     She was born Dec. 25, 1870, at Waukon, Iowa, and was reared in Iowa.
     She was married to John E. Garrity, May 24, 1892, at Waukon, and taught school at Waukon, Iowa and Emery, S.D. until going to Anaconda, Mont., in 1896.  In 1902 they moved to Nampa and moved to Marsing in 1913 where they owned the first homestead in the upper Gem district of Owyhee county.
     They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942.
     Mr. Garrity preceded her in death in August of 1945, and Mrs. Garrity returned to Nampa in 1946 where she had since made her home.
     She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Nampa; St. Paul's Altar Society and one of the founders of the Marsing Community Club.
     She is survived by four sons, Dr. John W. Garrity of Nampa, Clarence of Oakland, Calif., Adin Garrity of Winnemucca, Nev., and Wallace Garrity of Boise; three daughters, Mrs. Reid (Margaret) Robinson, Nampa, Mrs. Joe (Helen) Cerva, of Twin Falls and Mrs. William (Bernice) Hellstern, of Kennewick, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ellen McAueney, of Waukon, Iowa; two sons, Jay and Earl Garrity preceded her in death.
     Requiem High Mass will be celebrated t 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Robert Turgeon as celebrant.  The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.  Interment will be at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
