Charles Basil Drew |
Services for
Charles Basil Drew, 71, of Rt. 2, Wilder, who died on Sunday,
Feb.. 12, at a Caldwell hospital of natural causes, will be
conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Wilder United
Methodist Church. Rev. Sue Nelson Caille of the Wilder
United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will
follow at the Wilder Cemetery under the direction of Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
He was born Nov. 10, 1912 at Wilder, to Charles Wiley and
Evalena Mae Smith Drew. He attended grade school and
high school at Wilder, graduating in 1929.
In the fall of 1929, he began attending the National School
of Broadcasting at Los Angeles, Calif. He remained a
resident of California un 1934, when he returned to Wilder to
help his father farm. In 1928 he married Arminda E.
Bowhay at Waterville, Kan., and they returned to Wilder to
make their home. At the time of his death, they were
living on the homestead his father had homesteaded at Wilder
in 1908.
He was a member of the United Methodist church, Wilder; in
1951, first chairman of the Wilder Community Auction; a member
of the Wilder Chamber of Commerce; past president of the
Wilder Lions Club; a member of the Caldwell Elks Lodge 1448; a
member of the Wilder Masonic Lodge 83, AF & AM; a past
worshipful master; a past district deputy grand marshal of the
Ninth Masonic District; and past associate guardian of the
International Order of Jobs Daughters, Bethel 24, Wilder.
Survivors include his wife, Arminda Drew of Wilder; a son,
Philip Drew of Nampa; four daughters, Lida Rae Sweet of
Wilder, Pamela Collins of Umatilla, Ore., Kathy Wilber of
Boise, and Becky Drew of Wilder; two sisters, Doris H. Peden
of Caldwell and Hester E. Gittins of Wilder; 13 grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Wilder
United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at the chapel today from 4 to 9 p.m. and on
Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. |
