Graveside memorial services for Boyd B. Cornell, 71, of
Middleton, who died Sunday, March 20, 1988, in a Caldwell
nursing home, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at
the Middleton Cemetery, The Rev. Dan Secord of the First
United Methodist Church, Middleton, will officiate.
Cremation and services are under the direction of Flahiff
Funeral Chapel of Caldwell.
Mr. Cornell, a printer-publisher, was born April 4,
1916, at Caldwell, a son of Adelbert and Bessie Matthews
Cornell. He was reared and educated in Middleton.
As a boy he helped on his father's truck and dairy farm.
He learned the printing trade at his father's newspaper,
The Boise Valley Herald. After graduating from
Middleton High School in 1934, he continued working for his
father on the farm and at the newspaper. He and his
brothers, Clark and Vance, raced Model T Fords and trucks in
the area. In 1939, Boyd won the Northwest Champion Model
T race drivers' title. He married Edna Ahlborn on Nov.
28, 1941, at Parma.
He was a member of the Middleton Chamber of Commerce,
and the Middleton Fire Department.
Boyd enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and camping.
Survivors include a son, Brent D. Cornell of Caldwell;
two brothers, Clark and Vance, both of Middleton; a sister,
Lois Hull of Redding, Calif.; 11 nieces; and 11 nephews.
His parents and three brothers also died earlier.
