Graveside services for Benjamin Franklin Short, 75, of
Caldwell, who died Saturday, July 14, at his home
of natural causes, were conducted today at the Canyon
Hill
Cemetery.
The Rev. Raymond A.
Thompson of the Caldwell United Methodist
Church officiated under
the direction of the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
He was born June
12, 1909, at Iuka, Mo.,
to Samuel and Mary Ellen Farrell Short.
He married Edna L.
Mollette on Aug. 4, 1931 at Liberal, Mo. Following
his marriage, he worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad for
several years. In
1940, he began work as a coal miner at Rock Springs, Wyo.,
where he worked until 1947. In
1948, he came to
Idaho
to raise his family of nine children.
He had worked as a
carpenter and helped build the old
Caldwell
Memorial
Hospital
building. He traveled
extensively following his retirement.
He is survived by
three sons, Frank Short of Electric City, Wash., Wesley R.
Short and Fred Short, both of Caldwell, four daughters, Mary
M. Todd Dorothy Branscum and Anna Crenshaw, of Caldwell, and
Betty Woodland of Middleton; 13 grandchildren, one great
grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, a son, a, daughter, and 20 brothers and
sisters. |
