Richard Shimmin

     Richard R. Shimmin, 62, of Caldwell, died Tuesday, November 5, 1996, at the Caldwell hospital.  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 8, 1996, at the Middleton Cemetery, Middleton, Idaho.  Reverend Don Brown of the Star Friends Church will officiate under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
    Mr. Shimmin was born December 24, 19331 in Hooker County, Nebraska, a son of Roy and Hattie Cox Shimmin.   He moved to Nampa as a young boy where he was reared and educated.   Richard married Katherine Sanders on January 17, 1995, at Yuma, Arizona, and the couple resided in Nampa.   He worked for Morrison Knudsen on the Oxbow, Brownlee and Hells Canyon Dams.  He was also a truck driver for many years,  Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and visiting the Washington Coast.
    He was a member of the Operating Engineers and Teamsters Unions.
    Survivors include his wife, Katherine of Caldwell; two sons, Russell Shimmin of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Tony Shimmin of Bell Garden, California; three daughters, Yolonda VanMaanen of Caldwell, Rhonda Sheldon of Boise, and Shayne Shimmin of Winter Haven, California: one sister Mildred Barrie of Nampa; two grandsons Richard Parcel and Kasey Chadwick; two granddaughters, Kristina Parcel and Jennifer Rosenlund and several nieces and nephews.
    The family suggests that memorials be given to the Idaho Heart Association or the Idaho Diabetes Association..
    Firends may call today from 3 until 8 p.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
