Memorial Services for Glen H. Sherman
84, and Phyllis M. Sherman, 73, of Greenleaf, who went to be
with their Lord Sunday, March 2, 1997, following an auto
accident near Greenleaf, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
March 5, 1997, at the Deer Flat Free Methodist Church,
Caldwell. Rev. Al Nelson will officiate, assisted by Rev.
William Hull. Private inurnment will precede the
memorial service. Cremation was under the direction of
Flahiff Crematory, Caldwell. Mrs.
Sherman was born May 1, 1923, a daughter of Ross C. and Mary
Fagan Henderson, in Denver, Colorado. As her mother died
at her birth, she was reared by family in the Midwest.
She married Ted. L Betters on June 6, 1943, and he died in
1945. She married Glen H. Sherman in 1950 and had made
her home in the Greenleaf area. Phyllis enjoyed reading
and child care. She was a member of the Deer Flat Free
Methodist Church and also attended the Caldwell Seventh-Day
Adventist Church. Mr. Sherman was born
June 11, 1912 in Jewell County, Kansas, a son of Ralph W. and
Laura May Harris Sherman. He was reared and educated in
the Kansas/Nebraska area, graduating from North Branch Academy
in 1930. He married Elizabeth Harlow in 1933 and the
couple moved to Idaho in 1949. She died in September of
1949. He married Phyllis Henderson Betters on May 17,
1950, and the couple have since resided in the Greenleaf area.
Glen purchased and operated the Greenleaf Lockers until his
retirement. Despite losing an arm as a young man in a
farming accident, he led a full life, was an avid gardener and
enjoyed providing for his family. He was a member of the
Deer Flat Free Methodist Church. Mr. and
Mrs. Sherman are survived by three sons and daughters-in-law,
Dale and Peggy Sherman of Notus, David and LaVeta Sherman of
Portland, OR, and Paul and Deborah Sherman of Cambridge; three
daughters, Mrs. Orville "Tater" (Reta) Berry of Greenleaf,
Mrs. Arlen (Esther) Hebner of Caldwell and Diane Smallwood of
Boise; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and "special
grandchildren" the Duane Squibb family, of Notus. Mr.
Sherman also leaves a brother, Berl Sherman of Red Cloud,
Neb.; two sisters, Ruth Mahin of Braden, Neb., and Ruby
Skelley of Burr Oak, Kansas; 1 niece and 3 nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leroy, and a brother.

to a favorite charity, church or to the American Heart
