Ethel Shipman

     Ethel Iona Shipman, 90, of Eagle, Idaho and formerly of Wilder, died Thursday, April 2, 1992 at the home of her granddaughter in Eagle.  Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, April 6, 1992 at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Rev. William Russell of the Church of the Nazarene of Eagle will officiate with interment following at the Wilder Cemetery.
    Mrs. Shipman was born on February 8, 1902 at Yellville, Arkansas, the daughter of John and Gertie Grooms Matlock, where she was reared and educated.  She married Bruce Elza Shipman on September 23, 1917 at Rush Creek, Arkansas.  Together they came to Idaho in 1941, settling in the Wilder area where they resided for many years.
    They owned and operated the Shipman Grocery Store in Wilder for many years.  Mr. Shipman died November 28, 1974.  Mrs. Shipman continued to live in Wilder until 1990 when she moved to Eagle to live with her granddaughter, Inis K. Cupp.
    She was a member of the Golden Gate Baptist Church of Wilder, and also a charter member of the Rebekahs and I.O.O.F. of Wilder.
    Survivors include two sisters, Edith Thompson of Wilder and Marie Essman of California; a brother, Lonnie Matlock of Arizona; six grandchildren, Janice Lee Crader, Inis Kay Cupp, Garnette W. DeMuth, Noel Shipman, Nanette Allen, Neal Shipman; and 8 great grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son LeRoy Shipman, two sisters, Bernice Thompson and Bonnie Lack, and a great grandson Cupp.
    Friends may call at the Dakan Funeral Chapel today from 2 to 6 p.m.
    The family suggests that memorials be made to the Church of the Nazarene of Eagle, Compassionate Ministries, 1001 W. State, Eagle, Idaho 83616.
