Dora Skelton

    Funeral services for Dora E. Skelton, 88, of Roswell, who died Monday, Aug, 1, at an Ontario nursing home of pneumonia and congestive heart failure, will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roswell, by the Rev. William C. Wartes of Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roswell and the Rev. Donald Shover of the Assembly of God Church, Fruitland.  Interment will follow at the Roswell Cemetery, Roswell, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Parma.
    She was born June 2, 1895, at Eagle Rock, Mo., the daughter of Elbert Allen and Sarah Faulkner Ball, where she was reared and educated.  She married Charles E. Skelton Feb. 21, 1915.  Two years later in 1917, they moved to Roswell, where they farmed until his death on Dec. 5, 1973.  A year later she moved to the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Ontario, Ore., where she resided until her death.
    She was a past president of the WCTU and was a founding member of the Women's Bible Study at the Roswell Presbyterian Church, where she was a member.
    She is survived by one daughter, Mildred Skelton Smyser of Roswell; one son, Virgil Verdell Skelton of Roswell; three granddaughters, Melodie Smyser Blower of Stockton, Calif., Crystal Skelton Giles of Spokane, Wash., and Sherril Skelton, a student at Whitworth College; three grandsons, Skip Smyser of Roswell, Michael and Randall Skelton, both of Spokane, Wash.; six great-grandchildren, Bobby, Michael and Marcy Blower of Stockton, Calif., and Stephanie, Jason and Bethanie Giles of Spokane, Wash.  She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and one sister.
    The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roswell.
    Friends may call at the chapel in Parma today between 6 and 8 p.m.
    Active pallbearers will be her three grandsons and three great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucille Allen, Leona Tuning, Frances French, Wyoma Harold, Maurine Andrew, and Helen Lowell.
