Chester
Lee "Chet" Simpson, 69, of Middleton, died Saturday, Oct. 3,
1992, at a Boise hospital of natural causes. Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 1992, at
the Middleton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bishop Fred Lewis of the Middleton 3rd Ward L.D.S. Church will
officiate. Interment will follow at the Middleton
Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Mr. Simpson
was born February 2, 1923, at Eldon, Missouri, the son of
Edgar Newton and Ida Bell Templeton Simpson and was raised and
educated in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1939 he moved to
Arizona and in 1940 came to the Magic Valley area. He
entered the United States Navy, December 7, 1942, and served
on the U.S.S. Frankford. He was honorably discharged
December 26, 1945. He married Gladys
Owens, January 12, 1947, at Elko, Nevada. Their marriage
was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, February 18, 1953. They
made their home at Buhl for a number of years before moving to
Kansas City, Kansas, and Arizona for a time. In 1976
they came to Idaho and have made their home primarily in
Middleton since 1977. Mr. Simpson
had worked for the Goodyear Aircraft Co. in Arizona and as a
superintendent at the Nampa waste water treatment plant for
seven years. He had worked at the Boise waste water
treatment plant for eight years until his retirement in 1985.
Chet loved the outdoors, hunting and camping with his family.
He was very good with his hands and had the ability to build
and repair many things. Survivors
include his wife, Gladys of Middleton; four sons and
daughters-in-law, Dale and Linda of Boise, Nyle and Joleen of
Kuna, Eddy and Renna of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Mark and
Debbie of Nampa; a brother, Richard of Peoria, Arizona; a
sister, Juanita Stephens of Kansas City, Kansas; nineteen
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and his
parents. His family will meet their
friends at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 6 to 8 p.m.
today and in the Relief Society Room at the Church from 1 to
1:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to services.
