Truck Driven By Father Kills Toddler

Whitney Trunnell Dies in Caldwell Hospital of Hurts

CALDWELL — Whitney Ayer Trunnell, 18-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Trunnell, died in a Caldwell hospital from injuries suffered Wednesdaynight when he was run over by a truck.
The child was reported to have been playing in the yard at the Trunnell home, near Wilder, while his father filled the truck with gas.
As his father got in the truck to drive away, the child got the gate open and ran in front of the vehicle, officers said.
Coroner John Alsip termed the death accidental.
Private graveside services for the child will be held at the Wilder Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. today with the Rev. Robert Pierre of Wilder officiating.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Trunnell of Wilder, route 2, and four small brothers, Warren, Blaine, Robin and Duncan; parental grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Trunnell of Wilder, and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary R. Hargis of Evanston, Ill.
