Services for Nettie Lyle Rutan, 85, of 1108
3rd Ave. North, Nampa, formerly of Melba, who died Saturday,
March 19, at her home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at
the Alsip Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leo W. Reed, pastor of
the Nampa First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment
will follow in the Melba Cemetery. She
was born Aug. 31, 1897, at Goodland. Kan., to Walter and
Jessie Faubion. At the age of 4, she moved to Phillips
County, Kan., with her parents, where she was reared and
educated. She graduated from high school at Alma, Neb.,
and taught school for three years in Nebraska and Kansas.
She married Herbert D. Rutan on April 8, 1917, at Alma.
After WWI, in which her husband served, they moved to
Wilsonville, Neb., where they farmed for 15 years. They
moved to Melba. Idaho, in 1934, where they farmed until their
retirement in 1971. They came to Nampa in 1978 where
they had since made their home. She was a member of the
Nampa First Baptist Church and was active in the children's
Sunday school department as a teacher and leader. She
also held offices in the Women's Missionary Society.
She is survived by her husband of Nampa; three sons, Leonard
of Meridian, Gene of Nampa, Russel of Grandview; one sister,
Rachel Parker, McCook, Neb.; 12 grand-children, 20
great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Francis and
one brother. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Idaho Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 534, Rupert, Idaho,
or flowers may be sent.
