Martin (Lencho) Salas

    Martin (Lencho) Salas, 74, of Nampa, died Thursday, May 30. 1996, at home.
    Vigil services will be held at 730 p.m., Friday, May 31, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 1, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Alfred Puccinelli, S.M., presiding.  Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
    Martin was born August 10, 1921, at McAllen, Texas, a son of Martin and Florencia Solelo Salas.  He was a World War II Veteran, a member of the 96th Infantry Division 45.  His Infantry team was assigned to hazardous duties in the Asia-Pacific Theater where he was awarded the Purple Heart, American Theater Service Medal, Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Service Star.
    Martin married Belia Garcia on May 18, 1950, in McAllen where they made their home until 1957 when they moved to Nampa.  Martin retired after 25 years of employment with Beatrice Foods (Idaho Animal Products).  Martin and Belia owned and operated the De-Rail Bar tor 20 years.
    Survivors include the following children and their spouses: Ramon and Anna Guerrero of Sacramento, Calif.; Gabriel and Maria Batres of Nampa; Rogelio and Sylvia Garza of Phoenix, Ariz.; Reynaldo and Sharon Guerrero, Jose Manuel and Augustina Moran, Lorenzo Salas and Pam, Marcelo and Cheryl Salas and Margaret Salas all of Nampa; two brothers, Merced and Emilio Salas of McAllen, Texas; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Belia, on January 12, 1996.
 Friends may call until 9 p.m., today at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel.
