WILDER
(Special) - Funeral services for Shirley Peckham, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert G. Peckham, who died September 27, were
held Friday afternoon at the Wilder Methodist church.
The church could not hold the crowd, many of whom remained
outside. The scripture was read by the
pastor, the Rev. Merle M. Burres, following which several
sixth grade classmates of Shirley sang "In the Garden."
Dr. H. H. Hayman spoke, using Song of Solomon 6:2 as his text.
The Rev. Albert B. Parrett of the Caldwell Methodist church
gave the obituary. Mrs. Charles Stredder sang "Pink Rose
in My Garden," accompanied by Mrs. T. C. Phillips.
Pallbearers were E. G. Lee, Milton Leigh, W. J. Clark, Oren
Hudson, Charles Farley and Tom Smith. Dr. Hayman and Rev.
Parrett conducted the services at the grave.
Shirley Evadine Peckham was born January 18, 1926. She
became an associate member of the Greenleaf Friends' church at
the time of her birth, and later was enrolled in the Wilder
Methodist church Sunday school. She was just beginning
her sixth year of school. Shirley was a talented pianist
and had done some credible composition work.
Surviving are her parents, her brother, Vance Edward, her
grandmother, Mrs. Adrienne N. Peckham of Caldwell, and several
