Robert Root Sr.

    Graveside services for Robert Warren Root, Sr., Lt. Col. U.S. Army "retired," 61, of Wheaton, Ill., formerly of Caldwell, who died Thursday, June 9, at the U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center, Great Lakes, Ill., of natural causes, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenleaf Cemetery, Greenleaf.
    The Rev. Dick Shaw of the First Baptist Church, Caldwell, will conduct the services which are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, at the Warm Beach Free Methodist Church near Stanwood, Wash.
    He was born July 27, 1921, at Boise to Rev. John and Winifred Root.  He was reared and educated in Idaho and Washington.  He married Ruth Settle on Oct. 22, 1943, at Caldwell.
    He joined the Army in 1945 and retired from in 1970 after a 25-year career with the military police.  After retirement, he was involved in Christian Missionary Work, including the Pacific Broadcasting Association.
    He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Elouise of Caldwell and Evelyn of Portland, Ore.; two sons, William of Bothell, Wash., and Robert, Jr. of Racine, Wis.; two brothers. John M. of Madras, Ore., and Leonard C. of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Joanne Leddusire of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
    Flowers may be sent or the family suggests that memorials be made to the Pacific Broadcasting Association, P.O. Box 941, Wheaton, Ill. 60189.
    Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon.
