Funeral services for Marion F. Reineke, 89, of Melba, who
died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 1991, at a Nampa hospital from
natural causes, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan.
14, 1991, at the Community Baptist Church in Melba with Russ
Steiner, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial
will follow in the Melba Cemetery. Services are under
the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
Marion F. Reineke was born on March 5, 1901, in Henryetta,
Indian Territory (Oklahoma) to Henry and Emma C. Reineke.
In 1906, Marion moved with his family to Sheridan, Wyo.,
where his brother Raymond was born. The family
returned to Oklahoma and moved to Nampa in 1909.
The Reineke family established the first homestead claim in
the Melba Valley and Emma Reineke, Marion and Ray resided on
the property as required for "proving up" while Henry worked
in Nampa.
In September of 1920, Mary
F. Lovely came from Montana to teach at the Glendale school.
She was immediately nicknamed "Bobbie" and they were married
on June 19, 1922, in Livingston, Mont. The couple made
their home in the Melba area and in 1963, the pioneering
spirit again took hold and a desert claim near Bruneau was
developed. They lived at Bruneau from 1966 to 1978.
Marion, a life-time farmer, was actively engaged in the
first harvest of crops in the valley, operating a
horse-drawn binder at the age of 14. Mechanics were
also a special interest and he attended a mechanics school
in Los Angeles for about six months. He operated a
horse-drawn combine, the first of its kind in the valley,
and custom combining with newer models of machinery was a
major activity for years. The loves of his life were
his family and the country.
Survivors
include his wife, Mary "Bobbie" Reineke; a daughter, Mary
Luana Capps; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Janice
Reineke; a daughter-in-law, Jean Reineke, all of Melba;
grandchildren and spouses, Marion "Butch" and Barbara
Webster, Nampa, John and Michelle Ring, North Highlands,
Calif., Robin Reineke, Portland, Ore., Reid and Mary Reineke,
Camarillo, Calif. ad Rod and Teri Reineke, Issaquah, Wash.;
six great-grandchildren, Jodi and John Webster, Andrea and
Lisa Ring and Ayn and John Reineke; and a niece, Ramona
Reineke, Reno, Nev.
He was preceded
in death by a son, Charles H. Reineke, a brother, Raymond,
and two grandsons, Roger Wayne Reineke and James Owen Capps.
Memorials may be made to the Melba
Senior Center, Melba Quick Response Unit or the Roger
Reineke Scholarship Fund at Melba High School; all are in
Melba, Idaho 83641.
