Body Recovered
From Deer Flat
Low Line Canal

The body of Mark Edwin Knee, 28, drowned Thursday evening about seven o'clock in the Deer Flat lowline canal while swimming with several companions, was recovered this morning about 2:30 o'clock.  The body was located about 14 feet from where the youth went down.
The body was brought up by George Weber, John Knight and W. R. Bates, all volunteer workers, using equipment supplied by the Canyon county sheriff.
The water had been turned out of the canal but the level had dropped only about six inches, leaving the body in approximately seven-feet of water at the time it was found.
The body was brought to the Peckham Funeral chapel in Caldwell.  Services will be held at the chapel Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. R. E. Parish, pastor of the Assembly of God church in Caldwell in charge.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Knee of Caldwell Route 2; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie McManigal of Phoenix, Ariz.; Adelia, Lois, and Bessie, all of Caldwell; two brothers, Cecil and Ralph, both at home.
Knee was born September 4, 1911 at Bonesteel, S. D., and came to the Pleasant Ridge community with his parents nearly two years ago from Ainsworth, Neb.  He has been employed at the George Weber ranch in Pleasant Ridge during most of that time.
