Leland Daryl Rowen, 74, of Melba, died Tuesday, March 13,
1990, at home of natural causes. Funeral
services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at the
Melba Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Burial will follow in the Melba Cemetery. Services are
under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
L. Daryl Rowen was born Sept. 29,1915, at Huston, Idaho, a son
of Simon M. at Augusta Rowen. He was an active athlete
at Melba High School and graduated with an athletic
scholarship to the College of Idaho. He married Lydia
Katherine Eberhard Nov. 14, 1936, at Boise, and their marriage
was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.
They farmed in southwest Idaho for many years. Mr. Rowen
was active on the school board at Melba for many years and
continued his interest in sports in city league baseball.
Mr. Rowen was an active member of the LDS Church and served a
mission with his wife in the California Fesno mission.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia of Melba; a son, Ron Rowen
of Fair Oaks, Calif.; three daughters Myrna Jean Johnson of
Meridian, Marilyn Bates of Montague, Calif., and Trudy Hafen
of Rock Springs, Wyo.; two sisters, Erma Thomason of Caldwell
and Virginia Greenfield of Boise; 26 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren. His parents and a
brother pre-ceded him in death. The
family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Alsip
Funeral Chapel and on Thursday from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the
Melba LDS Church. |
