Frank Volk, 71, of Weiser, a former resident of Nampa, died
Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994, in a Boise hospital. Services
will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Persons-Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Nampa. The Rev. Russell M. Hendrickson
of the Nampa First Baptist Church and the Rev. Father John
Tivenan of Mercy Medical Center, Nampa, will be the
officiants. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary
Cemetery, Nampa. Frank was born April
12, 1922, at Linton, North Dakota, a son of George F. and
Barbara Miller Volk. As a small child, he moved with
the family to Selfridge, North Dakota, where he grew up and
attended school. He joined the CCCs at age seventeen,
then was drafted into the U.S. Navy. He spent three
years in the South Pacific Theater and one year on Okinawa.
He was discharged in 1946 and returned to North
Dakota. He had married Rebecca M. Weigel March 2, 1943, at
Selfridge. They moved to Garden Valley, Idaho, in
1956, then to Boise Valley in 1958 where he worked as a
farmhand and as a carpenter in various trailer factories.
Rebecca Volk died Dec. 19, 1988. He retired to enjoy
woodworking, fishing and reading western novels. He
married Carolyn A. Hendrickson Feb. 8, 1990, at Mullen,
Neb., and they made their home in Nampa until moving to
Weiser in November, 1993. Survivors
include his wife, Carolyn, of Weiser; five sons and four
daughters-in-law, Dawayne F. Volk of Weiser, Tim M. and
Vicki K. Volk of Homedale, Keith and Karen Volk of Roseburg,
Ore., Myron J. and Deon D. Volk of Caldwell, Leslie K. and
Theresa Volk of Cheney, Wash.; two daughters and one
son-in-law, Sandie M. and George Craig of Boise, Lucretia A.
Lyon of Springdale, Wash., two stepsons and their wives,
Leon P. and Jan Hendrickson of Weiser, Gordon and Jan
Hendrickson of Wellton, Ariz.; three brothers and three
sisters; twenty grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews. He
was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and
one granddaughter, Melissa. Friends
may call until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until
service time on Thursday at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Nampa.
