Forrest Reed

    Graveside services for Forrest Lee "Jack" Reed, 78, of Parma, who died Monday, Dec. 7, of complications following an appendectomy Nov. 4, will be held at at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Parma Cemetery.
    Dr. James F. Moore of Caldwell will officiate under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Parma.  Friends and family are invited to the Reed home following the service for fellowship in honor of Mr. Reed.
    Mr. Reed was born Oct. 17, 1909, in Broken Arrow, Okla., to Eugene and Claudia Reed.  He graduated from Parma High School in 1929.
    He married Lucile Ella Stephens, March 20, 1937.  He worked as sales manager of Burns Chevrolet in Parma.  During World War II, he was Kaiser Shipyard welding supervisor in Vancouver, Wash.  He was manager of the Parma Water Lifter Co. for 26 years and was nominated by the Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association to be one of the first recipients of an annual award for people in the irrigation equipment business who have made outstanding contributions to the industry.  After retirement, he operated Jack Reed Irrigation Co. from his home.
    He was a member and served as trustee of Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church in Parma and was a member of the Parma Lodge No. 49 AF & AM; served as president of the Parma Lions Club; and had served as coordinator of the Salvation Army in the Parma area.
    He is survived by his wife of Parma; a son, Robert Reed of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother, Allen Reed of Boise.
    Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1386, Caldwell 83606; or to the church of choice.
