Ernest Carl Romey, 87, of Middleton, died Monday, November 9,
1992, at his home of natural causes. Funeral services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Dakan Funeral
Chapel, Caldwell. Private interment will be at Lower
Boise Cemetery, Parma. Mr. Romey was
born April 9, 1905, at Cascade, South Dakota, to John and Alma
Carlson Romey. As a boy, he moved to Nebraska with his
family where he attended an automotive and aircraft trade
school in Lincoln, Nebraska. He later followed the
harvest crews to Kansas where he worked for several years.
He married Doris Van Horn February 28, 1931, at Enterprise,
Kansas. They made their home in Kansas for a time before
coming to Notus, Idaho, in 1932. They farmed north of
Notus and Mr. Romey also worked for Dairymen's. In 1957
they moved to Kuna where they farmed until December 1991 when
they moved to their home north of Middleton where they have
since resided. Mr. Romey was a member
and Past Master of the Kuna Grange. He also helped in
the organization of the Senior Park near Donnelly.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Middleton; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Dean and Jean Romey of Middleton and Max and
Carol Romey of Burk Burnett, Texas; a sister, Irene DeBruler
of Caldwell; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dale Edward Romey;
three brothers and three sisters. His
family suggests that memorials be made to the Mercy Hospice
Program, 152 12th Ave. Road, Nampa, Idaho 83651.
Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell Thursday
from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Romey's family
wishes to express their appreciation to Mercy Hospice for all
their assistance during Mr. Romey's illness. |
