Funeral services for Della M.
Rockwood, 83, of Homedale, who died Wednesday, December 9,
1992 at the Caldwell hospital will be conducted at 10 a.m.
Monday, December 14, 1992, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Homedale. Reverend Ramiro Cruz-Ahedo will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Fargo Cemetery, Wilder, Idaho.
Della was born April 26, 1909 at Wilder, a daughter of John F.
and Mazy Ann Over Miller. She started school in 1916 in
the Fargo Community near Wilder and also attended the Lowell
School in Boise for about three years. She graduated
from Wilder High in 1928 and then graduated from Lewiston
State Normal School at Lewiston, Idaho.
Della married Chelsea Joseph Rockwood on October 7, 1934, at
Caldwell. The couple lived in Wilder, Boise, Camas
Valley and Eugene, Oregon during their almost 52 years of
marriage. She taught school in Camas Valley, Oregon and
drove mail route on Route 1 out of Wilder for three years.
She started working for the Wilder Post Office in 1959 and
retired in 1971. The couple celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary on October 7, 1984. Mr.
Rockwood died on February 23, 1986. She
was a member of the Wilder United Methodist Church, the Fargo
Ladies Club, Charity Rebekah Lodge #75 since 1934, Homedale
Senior Citizens and the Sewing Club. She enjoyed
gardening, raising flowers, doing art work and she really
enjoyed being with family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include her son John Judson Rockwood; two grandsons
Scott and David Rockwood; and two nieces June B. Christiansen
and Maxine B. Carpenter. She was preceded in death by an
infant daughter Ann Marie in 1942, a brother James at infancy,
a niece Ruth Davis, and two sisters Marie Root and Frances
Brosa. The family suggests that
memorials be given to the United Methodist Church, Wilder,
Idaho. |
