Memorial services for Chelsea J. Rockwood, 77, of Wilder, who
died Sunday, Feb. 23, at home of natural causes, will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilder Methodist Church.
The Rev. Ramiro Cruz-Ahedo will officiate. Graveside
services will follow at the Fargo Cemetery under the direction
of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
Mr. Rockwood was born Jan 1, 1909, at Roswell. He was
reared and educated there, graduating from high school in
1925. He graduated from the College of Idaho in 1930. He
then farmed in the Roswell and Fargo areas.
He married Della Miller Oct. 7, 1934, at Caldwell. They
lived in the Fargo area, where he continued farming.
Later he operated a dairy farm in Wilder.
He taught school in Homedale and Wilder before moving to
Eagle, where he was the superintendent of schools. Later
they moved to the Camas Valley, Ore., area, where he worked as
school superintendent. They then moved to Boise, where
he taught at South Junior High School.
In 1954. they returned to the Fargo area, where he farmed
until retiring in 1974. He also sold
insurance for the Canyon County Farmers Insurance Co. from
1964 until 1974. They then moved to
Oregon, where they lived for eight years before moving to the
Central Cove area in 1983. He enjoyed
woodwork, fishing and gardening. He was
a member of the Silver City Masonic Lodge No. 13 AF&AM of
Homedale, IOOF Lodge No. 37 of Wilder and the Wilder Methodist
Church. He is survived by his wife of
Wilder; a son. John J. Rockwood of Redmond, Wash.; two
sisters, Edna R. Law of Caldwell and Eunice Billingsley of
Boise; two grandchildren, Scott and David Rockwood of Redmond;
and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and an
infant daughter. Memorials may be made
to the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 37, Wilder 83676. |
