Alfred H. Rood

    Services for Alfred Howard Rood, 81, of Parma Route 2, who died yesterday, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Parma Peckham-Dakan-Davis Chapel.  The Rev. John Bullock of Nyssa, Ore., will officiate.  Interment will be at Parma.
    Mr. Rood was born March 7, 1883, at Douglas County, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Rood.  He was reared in Eastern Nebraska and married Edda Ellen Lowary March 13, 1905, at Lexington, Neb.
    They farmed in Nebraska and Kansas until 1937, when they moved to Western Oregon.  They came to Parma in 1941, where he has since resided.  Mrs. Rood died April. 23, 1949, at Parma.  He ma-ried his present wife in November, 1959, at Parma.
    Surviving are his wife, Lou; three daughters, Mrs., Eva May Maine, Parma, Mrs. Mary D. Burkham, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Dorothy Bones, Silverton, Ore.; two sons, Alvie Clarence, Gothenburg, Neb., and Howard James, Lenore; a brother, Ervin, Oregon City, Ore.; 25 grandchildren. grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
