Graveside services for Allen B. "Red"
Reed, 73, of Parma, who died Thursday, March 17, 1988, at a
Boise nursing home will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the
Parma Cemetery under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel,
Parma. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Nickens of the
Parma Revival Center. Mr. Reed was
born Oct. 31, 1914, in Tulsa County, Okla., to Eugene and
Claudia Reed. He came to Idaho with his parents in
1927 settling in the Apple Valley near Parma and graduated
from Parma High School. He married Orvilla Vertrees,
Oct. 31, 1939, in Caldwell. They moved to Los Angeles,
Calif., for a short time, returning to Parma in 1942.
Mr. Reed owned and operated the Texaco Service Station in
Parma for 20 years and later worked for Parma Water Lifter
for 10 years until his retirement in 1978. He was a member
of the Parma Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years
and served two terms on the Parma City Council. Mrs.
Reed passed away Oct. 2, 1985. Mr.
Reed is survived by a daughter, Julia Bartles of Boise; and
two grandchildren, Delora Shoop of Moscow, Idaho and
Randy Cornwell of Portland, Ore. He
was preceded by death by a brother, Forrest.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Idaho, 6716 Fairview Ave., Boise,
Idaho, 83704, or a favorite charity.
