HOMEPAGE

William A. Stone
     Buried Monday
William Alexander Stone, notable Idaho criminal lawyer of 30 years ago, died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Fenwick at Juniper mountain near Jordan Valley.  The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church with Rev. F. E. Springer of the College of Idaho officiating.  Burial was in the Canyon Hill cemetery.
Mr. Stone, was born at Knoxville, Ia., 71 years ago.  He came to Caldwell about 1907 and established a law office here which brought him recognition throughout the state.  he was active in civic and church affairs during his long residence at Caldwell and was a familiar public figure throughout his life.
Mrs. Stone, the former Emma Engel, died a number of years ago.  Like her husband, Mrs. Stone took an active interest in civic welfare during her life.  She was the founder of the local Forward club and was instrumental in the establishment of the Carnegie library.  The old Stone home is at 904 Main street and is now occupied by Dr. Frank Harris.
Mrs. Fenwick is the only surviving relative of Mr. Stone.
All lawyers in Caldwell closed their office this afternoon in deference to the memory of the lawyer who played an active part in the legal history of Canyon county.
