Ruth
Francis Stull Beasley Petry entered her heavenly rest on
Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at a local nursing facility.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April
15, 1997, at the Wilder Cemetery, Wilder, ID. Rev. John
Payne of Ministry to the Aged will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Chapel of the
Chimes, Meridian.
Ruth was born the
first child of Charles Walter and Mabel Dunham Stull on April
30, 1907, in Waterloo, Iowa. Her early years were spent in
Waterloo. She then attended High School, Moody Bible
Institute, Judson College and Northern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Chicago, Illinois graduating in 1930. In
1926, Albert Ector Beasley and Ruth were married in Chicago
where they completed their educations and both graduated with
the same theological degree. After Albert's ordination,
the couple moved to Idaho. They served Idaho parishes in
Knull, Gooding, Wilder and Pocatello. During World War
II, Ruth remained in Wilder with their three children, while
Albert served in the U.S. Air Force as a Chaplain.
Albert was killed in a military airplane crash in 1949.
Ruth then moved to Caldwell and later to Boise. She was
employed as a secretary and bookkeeper and retired from the
Title Insurance Company after 16 1/2 years. She was a
former member of Boise Camera Club, Business and Professional
Women, Soroptimist Club, and Gold Star Wives. In 1963,
Ruth married Edward H. Petry. Together, they enjoyed
church activities, camera club, traveling and friends.
Ed died in 1973. Ruth remained in Boise and donated many
hours to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, the Old
Penitentiary, and the Veterans Hospital.
Beside her husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by her
parents, one brother, and her son Richard E. Beasley.
She is survived by Dick's wife, June of Flagstaff, Arizona;
One son, Charles Albert (Bud) Beasley and his wife Connie
Applegate Beasley of Riverside, California; One daughter,
Rebecca Beasley Ander and her husband Daryl E. Ander of Boise,
Idaho; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3
great-great- grandchildren. Other survivors include her
sister-in-law Margaret Stull Fogdall of Carefree, Arizona, one
niece; and numerous friends.
The family
requests that memorials be made to the Beasley Memorial
Scholarship at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, 550 East
Butterfield Road, Lombard, Illinois 60148, to the Dick Beasley
Memorial Art Scholarship Fund, Northern Arizona University,
P.O. Box 4094, Flagstaff, Arizona 86011; or to the Ministry to
the Aged, P.O. Box 45237, Boise, Idaho 83711.
